About Fred & Propel Media

Hi, I’m Fred. I’m the founder of Propel Media and a Google Ads consultant with over 10 years of hands-on experience helping businesses grow through strategic and performance-led Google Ads optimisation.

I began my career in 2015 at a media agency, where I worked on the day-to-day execution of campaigns. My early work involved reviewing search term reports, monitoring budget pacing, analysing performance data, and supporting account managers across a range of industries including ecommerce, finance, automotive and B2B.

​

In 2016, I was promoted to a Google Ads specialist role, where I began managing my own clients and taking full responsibility for their results. One standout project was with a finance client who was struggling to generate leads. By conducting a detailed analysis of their search term data and carrying out extensive keyword research, I was able to significantly improve their campaign performance, resulting in almost three times more leads.

As my experience grew, I moved into a senior role and was later promoted to a director role, leading a team of specialists and managing the agency’s largest accounts. One of these was The Warehouse Group, one of New Zealand’s biggest retail businesses. This account allowed me to develop deep expertise in Google Ads for ecommerce, including managing Shopping Ads, conducting product feed optimisations, ingesting margin data into bidding strategies, and testing new formats like Performance Max and local inventory ads. This work was recognised across the industry. I received the Google Performance Honours award in the Omni-Channel Solutions category, and The Warehouse Google Ads account was awarded Best Use of PPC by the Drum Digital Advertising Awards in 2020.

After eight years in the agency world, I decided to start my own consultancy in 2023. Propel Media was created to give businesses access to high-level Google Ads services without the overheads of a traditional agency. As I started my own consultancy, I was fortunate to begin working with international businesses, particularly in Australia and the United States. These engagements further deepened my expertise in Google Ads, especially when working across different markets and business models.
